10 Reasons We Need the Holy Ghost as Believers

The theology of the trinity is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Bible confirmed that these three Godhead are one. Understanding who the Holy Spirit is, how he operates, and how the roles he plays in the life of a Christian requires is very vital as you journey on the Christian faith. Having or being baptized in the Holy Spirit is a dynamic experience that every Born Again Christian must have.

John 20 vs 21 confirmed the importance of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life. Jesus Christ empowered his disciples with the Holy Spirit. After the disciples were baptized in the Holy Spirit, their life was instantly transformed and they began to preach the gospel to sinners and as well heal the sick, and deliver the captives.

Let’s look at some 10 reasons why believers need the Holy Spirit.


Holy Spirit equips believers to perform exploits in ministry. Doing the work of the Lord requires the Holy Spirit. Salvation and Sanctification can not be enough for the tasks.  And that was the reason Jesus Christ empowered the disciples with the Holy Spirit so as to give them strength and boldness to do his work.

Holy Spirit empowers, he gives power to the sick and to the weary.  It was the Holy Spirit that helped the apostles to be scattered abroad to preach the gospel despite the persecution that was laid upon them.  ( Act 1 vs 18)

If you want to succeed in God’s ministry, you need the Holy Spirit to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.


Man’s carnal knowledge can never comprehend God’s infinite power. Believers need the Holy Spirit for Wisdom. it was the Holy Spirit that was in action when Daniel explained the mystery dream of King Nebuchadnezzar. Also, the Holy Spirit was in action when Joseph interpreted King Pharaoh’s mysterious dream.

There are some issues that can never be solved on Earth, but when the Holy Spirit is involved, those issues will be made simple. Believers need the Holy Spirit to give out Wisdom to them so as to be able to any problem such as physical, spiritual, and the world’s challenges.


There are many lives that are experiencing torment in their everyday life. There are those who are down in sickness, many are bedridden while some are not enjoying livelihood.

All Christians are called to go out to deliver the oppressed in the name of the Lord. We don’t need to be a pastor or a bishop before we do that ( heal the sick) what we need is the Holy Spirit.


After we give our life to the Lord Jesus Christ. All things that we must do must be subjected to his will. In order for Christians to know God’s will, we need the Holy Spirit to guide us in the way and commandments of God.


There are numerous spiritual gifts recorded in the Bible, such as the gift of prophecy, the gift of discernment, the gift of interpretation of tongues, and many more. The Holy Spirit is responsible for those gifts.

They are called “the gifts of the Spirit” . It is through these gifts that believers are made more strong and have more confidence to tear down the kingdom of darkness.


The Holy Spirit is the one that gives the confidence to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to the world. One instance to take note is the dynamic exploit of Paul the Apostle. He preached through the mighty influence of the Holy Spirit. Even when he was beaten, persecuted, and sentenced to imprisonment, Paul the Apostle remained resolute and kept on preaching the gospel to the people.

This feat can only be achieved through the mighty influence of the Holy Spirit. So, as Christians, in order to achieve great feats in the preaching of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, we need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.


In the journey of the Christian race, there are some times when one will be disappointed and might want to reconsider. There are many instances in the Bible where the apostles were worried and weary, however, with the help of the Holy Spirit. They were comforted and the zeal to keep working for the Lord was restored.


A lot of Christians could not get answers to their prayers because they pray not in the Holy Spirit. Roman 8 :26 showed us that we do not know how to pray, but with the guidance and help of the Holy Spirit, we can pray according to God’s will, and he will answer.

No matter the challenges or how pressing you need to pray, you still need to rely on the Holy Spirit to lay the prayer points in your heart for you to pray.


In Galatians 5 vs 22-23, the nine fruit of the Spirit was revealed. And without this fruit, the chance of going to Heaven will not be there.  It is through the help of the Holy Spirit that will make believers to exercise these nine fruits of the Spirit.


The Holy Spirit is like a police, he is everywhere looking out for us. Whenever we say or do something that we are supposed not to say, the Holy Spirit is always there to correct and convince us of the wrongdoing.

Once we are convinced, the Holy Spirit will now help us to ask for forgiveness from God.

The Holy Spirit is a supreme being and also He is a Spirit.  The absence of the Holy Spirit in a Christian’s life will be full of struggle and hardship. Are you yet to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, it is time for you to do so. Pray to the Lord to baptize you with the Holy Spirit.
