Salient Lessons and Prayers from the Story of Samson and Delilah

The downfall of the powerful Samson in Judges 16 should be a clarion warning to every believer that even though you were being used by God if you are not watchful and prayerful, the enemy can make evil merchandise of such a person. In that story, we saw that it is not by power or might or skills that can make one overcome Satan, but it is by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
There are lots of lessons Believers can learn from the birth, life, downfall, and death of Samson. So in this article, we are going to study together and learn some salience from Samson’s life and not only the lesson, we will be praying also. May God you and me the grace not to end like Samson in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Salient lessons from the story of Samson and Delilah
God created you for something special: Samson was created uniquely. In chapters 13 and 14 of Judges, God told his Angels to witness Samsons’ prayer of some things they should do and things they shouldn’t do for Samson.
God told Samson’s parents via an angel that they should not cut off his hair because he had been annoyed by heaven. Samson was handpicked by God to be a leader and a deliverer, he was sent to deliver the children of Israel from oppression by their enemy.

Dear God, I thank you because you are my creator. You created me in your likeness and image. I know that you have released some potential to be great into my life, I have this feeling that I carried a seed of greatness in my life.
Dear God, give me the courage to be strong, help me to fight against the enemies of my soul, and help me dear Lord to overcome every Lion that is roaring to my success. Amen.
One needs the help of God to fulfill Ministry: In the early stage of Samson’s conqueror over the enemy of Israel, he was backed with the strength of the Lord. He began to lose the battle when he stopped relying on his strength. He eventually lost the battle completely and his life was cut short early.
Dear Lord God, I thank you for putting me on the journey of greatness. I pray for your strength, it is by your strength that can be sustained, and my strength will surely fail me. Dear God, I require your backup in the battles of life. Amen.
There will always be opposition in the journey of life. It’s either you win or lose.
As Samson began to grow stronger in the power of God, enemies began to arise. They use different methods to nail Samson down, they use physical fighting, they use armies to fight him and even the Lion, yet, Samson overcame them. Eventually, the enemy devises a plan to lure a woman into his life. It was an unfortunate story that Samson fell to his enemy through a woman.
Dear Father, I know I carry glories that will shine upon my darkened generation. But I am not unaware of the devices of the devil to lure me down. I know the Devil is always there setting daily plans for me to lose focus. I pray dear Lord against every plan that the Devil has laid for me to fall, I declare fire from heaven to burn those plans in the name of Jesus.
I pray that I will fulfill my dreams, I will not die untimely as Samson and my destinies will not be truncated in the precious name of Jesus.
God cannot force us to choose things.
God almighty in Heaven created humans as Free creators. Free will creators as humans, are free to do whatever we intend to do, God cannot force things on human beings.
Samson decided not to take heed of God’s warning. He left the daughter of his own country and pursued a woman from the strange land. God used his parents as a source of warning but before he took corrections, his strength and both eyes were already gone.
Prayers
Dear God of heaven, I pray that you give me the grace to follow your rules and regulations, help me Lord to do away from self-centeredness and
give the mind to be focused on your words in the name of Jesus.
Forgive me Lord if I am not following your commandment, help me to be faithful to your law. I want to follow your will, and give me the grace to always live a life that pleases you every day in Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Our God is compassionate, he will always accept sinners back when they repent
Even though the Philistines succeeded in overcoming Samson. although Samson fell short of the glory of God, God did not depart completely from him. When Samson saw he was the Lord in prayer to die with his enemy, the Lord answered him and gave him the required strength to pull down a heavy building.
The lesson here shows that God is always waiting for a wandering child. He loves and he doesn’t want anyone to perish, and that is why he wants his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to come down to the world to die for the Sins of mankind.

Dear heavenly, I thank you for the love you showed me, a terrible sinner who is already doomed to hellfire. I thank you for sending your Son Jesus to die to redeem me from eternal punishment.
Dear God, I come unto you with a sorrowful heart, please have mercy upon me. Forgive me for my past iniquities. Restore unto me the joy of your salvation. Give me the grace to say no to sin, self, and Satan. Help me Lord to focus on this heavenly journey. Help me dear Father not to fall back into sin again. Amen
